Welcome to Christian Leadership Institute (CLI)! ( Introduction to CLI )
CLI is an independent Christian institute established on July 1, 2005 in California. It is registered as a non-profit corporation not affiliated with any specific church or denomination. Our vision is to equip Christian leaders to better serve local and overseas Chinese churches, and to use theological education as a channel to reach out to a much greater mission field. We are unique in our two-winged strategy which emphasizes parallel ministries in North America and Asia, as well as parallel focuses on Biblical and Practical Theology.
Programs, Faculty, Students
CLI offers a full set of educational programs with majors in Bible and Theology, as well as Counseling and Ministry. Over the past 12 years, we have built a substantial and practical curriculum for our students. We have a strong faculty team. All faculty members are renowned for their academic excellence, spiritual maturity, ministerial experience, with a passion and experience in teaching, research and writing. Many are invited from all over US and overseas to teach at CLI.
Our Doctor of Ministry program provides advanced training to ministers and church leaders. The Master level programs are designed for believers of all ages and all walks of life, and most of them are working professionals seeking to serve more effectively in ministries. Since its inception, CLI has trained more than 700 students, with over 130 graduates with Doctor of Ministry, Master of Divinity, Master of Christian Studies degrees, and Diploma of Christian Studies in North America, and Master of Christian Studies and Bachelor of Theology degrees in Asia.
CLI graduates have been actively serving in churches as pastors, Sunday school teachers, small group leaders, and many other leadership roles. In Asia, some graduates are in charge of church planting, some travel to various areas to train local church workers, and one graduate actually gets involved in medical ministry serving Muslims when his family was relocated to the Muslim aggregated region.
On March 1, 2017, CLI is transitioning into a new phase as Pastor Frank Liu retired from the presidency and Vice President Pastor William Tong Sun assumed office as Acting President. CLI is committed to the same vision and mission as we strive to reach higher grounds while solidly established on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.
For our North America campus, we are planning to emphasize the focus on “Evangelism, Church Planting and Pastoral Ministry” in our MDiv and MCS programs as we see the great need for evangelists and pastors among Chinese churches and immigrants. Training workers for the Kingdom is the goal we press on toward in whatever we do, as we work tirelessly on student recruitment, faculty addition, curriculum development and beyond. As a team, we work diligently for the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus.
For our Asia campuses, we have witnessed the success of our urban church leader training program. We are planning to take up the challenge by offering the Master of Divinity program at an existing branch to equip those who are gifted in teaching. We also continue to look to God for guidance to identify strategic locations for additional branch centers so that more believers from urban churches can be better equipped to serve the vast mission field as church planters, trainers, pastors, and ministry leaders.
How You Can Be Our Coworker
Theological education is an investment in the heavenly Kingdom. We invite you to join us and support this ministry. Let us work together and marvel together at how God can use our five loaves of bread and two fish to feed the multitude, and thereby bring abundant blessings to many. All glory be to God!
Praise the Lord. CLI has become formally accredited member of Asia Theological Association. We will continue to carry out the vision of "mission through theological education."
